February/March 2011

2011 is here and it's time to get riding!!! Whether you ride in the arena or out on the trail, I have some great opportunities to help you improve your horsemanship skills this year. I'm really looking forward to this year, seeing old friends and making some new ones along the way. I hope you can join me!

2011 Rocky Mountain Horse Expo Wrap-Up

I want to thank everyone who visited my booth and demonstrations at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo! We had a great weekend and couldn't believe how quickly it went. It was great to see old friends and meet some new people throughout the weekend.

Thanks to the riders who rode in my demonstrations each day. You earned a well-deserved round of applause for all your hard work!

A huge thanks to our friends who helped out behind the scenes throughout the weekend: Larry Killam (Horse Gate Ministry), Kay Keller, Peggy Setter, Carolyn and Ray Ruglowski, and Bob and Ginna Sanders. We couldn't have done it without you!

Thanks also to Norma and Whitney at Today's Horse Trader Magazine who got some great videos of our Sunday afternoon water crossing demonstration. Check the videos out on their Facebook page.

Visit our Ranch Photo Album for some of the scenes from the weekend as well as our Facebook page.
Check back here and on my Facebook page at the end of the month for more updates!

Rocky Mountain Horse Expo, March 11-13: Bring Your Horse & Ride with Me!

Come join us at the Expo in Denver with your horse for a great weekend of learning. I'll be participating again in the "Ride with the Experts" program. Improve your horse's trail skills in one of my lesson demonstrations:

"Essential Skills for Every Trail Horse": What makes a great trail horse? It's not just wet saddle pads. It requires developing some essential skills first. Bring your horse to learn first-hand how to perform some basic skills such as gaining control on the ground in all situations while improving your leadership skills, communication and respect; teaching your horse to stand for safe mounting and dismounting; emergency stops, easy bridling, better control in the saddle and more.

"Teach Any Horse to Cross Water": Bring your horse and learn how to put an end to those frustrating water crossings. Quit relying on forceful tactics with your horse, a buddy's horse to follow or pony yours across and other methods that can even make your problems worse. This is a fool-proof, step-by-step method that works for any horse and any rider. And, yes, we WILL have water there. It's a great way to get your horse ready for the trail this spring.

All demonstrations are in the Hall of Education Arena. "Essential Skills for Every Trail Horse" is Friday at 9am, Saturday at 11:30am and Sunday at 11:00am. "Teach Any Horse to Cross Water" is Friday at 1:30pm, Saturday at 2:30pm and Sunday at 3:00pm.

Click here for the registration form.

I'll also have a booth in the Expo Hall. Don't miss your chance to sign up to win a free weekend clinic. Stop by my booth to enter and check out our selection of tools to make your next trail ride more enjoyable.

I'm also looking for volunteers to help out at the booth and the demonstrations. Booth duties include handing out information, answering questions and taking care of sales at the booth. Demonstration duties include helping riders, and setting up equipment for the demonstrations, helping prepare my horses and holding horses. All volunteers receive a free shirt, admission to the Expo for that day as well as free parking. Please contact me ASAP to let me know.

This is also a great option for couples or families. You will set the topics so you get the help you really need customized for you and your horse. Clinics can be 1 or 2 days and run from 9 to 5.
